Portsmouth, Portsmouth, United Kingdom Endometriosis South Coast Full time £20,000 - £40,000 per year

Help Endometriosis South Coast stay connected with our community As a Communications Volunteer, you'll manage social media messages and comments, providing friendly responses and forwarding enquiries to the right team members.

What difference will you make?

Your role as a
Communications Volunteer
will have a direct and meaningful impact on how Endometriosis South Coast connects with and supports our community.

Every message we receive on social media is an opportunity to reach someone who may be struggling with pain, confusion, or isolation — and often, our inbox is the first place they turn to for understanding and help. By managing these communications with empathy and professionalism, you'll ensure that every person who contacts us feels heard, supported, and valued.

Your contribution will help us maintain a warm, responsive, and accessible online presence, allowing our small team to focus on delivering workshops, training, and community initiatives. You'll also help ensure important messages reach the right people quickly — whether that's someone needing peer support, a healthcare professional asking about training, or a business looking to collaborate.

This role is essential in keeping our digital communications flowing smoothly and ensuring that no one slips through the cracks.

By engaging thoughtfully with comments on our posts, you'll also help build a sense of community and belonging for people affected by endometriosis — helping to challenge stigma and raise awareness of this often misunderstood, full-body condition.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for a friendly, organised, and compassionate person to join our team as a
Communications Volunteer
. This role would suit someone who enjoys engaging with people online, is confident using social media, and wants to make a difference by helping others feel supported and understood.

You don't need to be a communications expert — what matters most is your reliability, empathy, and willingness to learn. We'll provide guidance and templates to help you handle messages in a way that reflects our values and tone.

Essential Qualities And Skills

  • Excellent communication skills You can write clearly, kindly, and professionally. You know how to adjust your tone to suit different situations and audiences.
  • Empathy and understanding You're patient and respectful when speaking to people who may be experiencing pain, frustration, or uncertainty.
  • Social media confidence You're familiar with platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and X (Twitter), and can comfortably check messages, comments, and notifications.
  • Reliability You're able to check in regularly and follow through on tasks. Even a few minutes a day can make a huge difference.
  • Organisation You can keep track of who's been responded to, what needs forwarding, and any messages that require follow-up.
  • Discretion You understand the importance of confidentiality when dealing with sensitive health or personal information.
  • Teamwork You're comfortable working independently but know when to ask for help or hand things over to the right person.
  • Previous experience in customer service, communications, or community engagement.
  • Experience volunteering with a charity or managing online communities.
  • An understanding of endometriosis or other long-term health conditions.
  • Familiarity with using spreadsheets, shared documents, or simple CRM systems to log enquiries.

Personal attributes
We're looking for someone who is kind, approachable, and confident in representing Endometriosis South Coast online. You should be comfortable engaging with a diverse range of people and committed to making everyone feel welcome and respected.

Our ideal volunteer is someone who wants to contribute to a meaningful cause and be part of a supportive, inclusive team. If you're passionate about communication, mental wellbeing, and equality in healthcare, you'll fit right in.

Our values
At Endometriosis South Coast, we believe in education, empowerment, and inclusivity. We work to ensure that people with endometriosis — of all genders and backgrounds — have access to information, community, and support.

We particularly welcome volunteers from
marginalised communities
, as we believe diverse voices and lived experiences strengthen our work and the support we provide.

If you're someone who enjoys helping others, values clear and compassionate communication, and wants to play a part in improving understanding around endometriosis, we'd love to hear from you.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for a friendly and reliable
Communications Volunteer
to help us manage and respond to social media messages and comments for Endometriosis South Coast.

Every day, people reach out to our charity through Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn — to ask questions, seek support, share their stories, or find out how to get involved. Your role will be to check these messages regularly, offer warm and professional replies, and forward them to the right member of our team when needed.

This is an important role that helps us stay responsive and approachable online, ensuring that everyone who contacts us feels heard, respected, and supported.
