London, Greater London, United Kingdom Meta Full time
We're looking for an Integrity Science Engineer to join a newly formed team who will focus on keeping under control severe integrity problems. We expect the team to move quickly and leverage AI as much as possible across the whole integrity funnel, from measurement to investigations.

Integrity Science Engineers have the opportunity to work on many of the most challenging, complicated, and high-visibility problems the company faces. From child safety, to scams and account takeover. The work we do impacts billions of people who use Meta products. Our focus on technical investigations, data analysis, machine learning and adversarial thinking as well as our end-to-end understanding of detection and remediation systems allows us to collaborate seamlessly with software engineering, data science, and operations to build processes, tools and capabilities necessary to enforce Facebook community standards at scale.

Successful candidates are curious, have bias towards action, are good at finding patterns amid chaos, and enjoy building and leveraging full understanding of phenomena they're dealing with. The perfect candidate will have a background in a quantitative or technical field, will have an extensive experience dealing with online adversaries, will be comfortable with large data sets, complex products and detection systems, and will have in-depth experience in data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and investigate online bad actors with the interest and capability to target Meta and its users
  • Work closely with others to identify sources of abusive behaviour and take countermeasures to stop abuse
  • Lead technical investigations from start-to-finish and effectively communicate actionable results to different audience types
  • Manage multiple projects at once while prioritising time based on team priorities
  • Manage ambiguity and changing priorities, adversarial shifts and multiple initiatives running simultaneously
Minimum Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Math/Finance, Physics, Applied Economics, Statistics or other technical field
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL
  • Experience coding in at least one of the following: PHP, Python, or Java
  • Experience doing quantitative analysis
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience thinking critically and qualifying assessments with solid communications skills
  • Experience in adversarial space like fraud and spam
  • Experience working across the broader integrity/security/Trust & Safety community
  • Experience with prioritising and executing with minimal direction or oversight
  • Proven track record of managing and executing on short term and long term projects
  • Experience investigating and acting on high-impact threats and online threat actors
  • Familiarity with cross-platform integrity threats
  • Demonstrated understanding of security and integrity risks, and how they apply to Meta and its users
