ScottishPower is seeking a talented and driven Lead Mobile Engineer to join our Digital team and lead the development of our flagship mobile applications – the "YourEnergy" app for iOS and Android. This is a technical leadership role focused on delivering high-quality mobile experiences that support our business goals and enhance customer engagement.

You'll be responsible for leading engineering, security, and technology improvements across our mobile apps, while also managing the technical delivery of large-scale projects. This includes overseeing delivery teams, managing backlogs, and proactively identifying and resolving risks and issues.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead the development and evolution of ScottishPower's mobile applications, ensuring alignment with business strategy and customer needs.
  • Own the delivery of strategic mobile projects, defining the technical vision and roadmap.
  • Review and approve technical designs, ensuring consistency, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Champion engineering best practices, including secure coding, observability, and accessibility.
  • Ensure high standards of documentation and knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, Security, and QA.
  • Manage and mentor mobile engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience leading technical delivery of mobile applications at scale.
  • Strong background in native mobile development (iOS and Android).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
  • Proficiency with source control tools (e.g. Git).
  • Familiarity with observability and analytics tools for mobile platforms.
  • Experience implementing accessibility standards and inclusive design.
  • Knowledge of mobile security testing tools and vulnerability remediation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead and inspire engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
