We have an opportunity for a Skilled Operative to join our Operations Team at Fletchers Bakeries which forms part of our Northern Cluster.

Our Fletchers bakery has over 125 years of baking tradition, with our Kara bakery supplying delicious wholesale bakery products for over 35 years starting with the first floured bap. Both have been part of the Finsbury Food Group since 2014. Fletchers Bakery can trace its roots back to 1895 and both bakeries portfolio of products have risen to include gourmet brioche, traditional sliced bread, bloomer breads and vegan and gluten free options, to name a but a few.

The Skilled Operative will work as part of the Production Team coordinating activities within the designated area. These activities will be designed to ensure the efficient and safe manufacture of the finished product to the correct specification, maintaining the highest standards of quality throughout. As a key member of the production team, you will work collaboratively to meet daily plant production targets. You will play a vital role in maintaining efficiency and safety standards, ensuring our products meet customer expectations.

This is what you'll actually do
In this role , you will provide support to the team via experience and knowledge to ensure effective and efficient running of the line, monitor the quality at each key stage making adjustments where necessary so that we have zero customer complaints and meet both our continuous improvement and waste targets. Ensure product quality is maintained throughout your area by adherence to plant set up, technical specifications and quality assurance processes to accurate performance data.

You will lead the efficient set up of plant at the start of the production and at product changeovers to improve the changeover efficiencies to meeting the quality to specification targets. You ensure hygiene and housekeeping practices are carried out to maintain a clean and safe working environment maintaining high standards of hygiene and housekeeping will be a core part of your daily routine to ensure a safe and clean working environment. You ensure that good Health and Safety practices and behaviours are adopted at all times to have a safe working environment with zero accidents.

  • Previous experience in a similar manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Confident communicator at all levels.
  • Proactive, results-driven mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
  • Basic reading, writing, numeracy, and computer literacy skills.
