The award-winning Jerwood Library of the Performing Arts, which supports teaching, learning, performance and research within the artforms of music and musical theatre, seeks to appoint a full-time Library Assistant to join its small specialist team.

You will be central to the day-to-day running of core library services, with duties including staffing the issue desk and carrying out processing and repair work on stock. You will also provide individualised support and advice to students to enable them to make best use of the library's collections and facilities. This role is an opportunity to take on diverse activities within a tightly specialised library service.

We are seeking someone with:

  • a degree (preferably in music; otherwise other formal study of classical music and library experience is required)
  • experience of working in a customer-focused environment
  • excellent general knowledge of classical music history, repertoire and practice, and the ability to read music
  • the ability to work on your own initiative and as an effective part of a small team
  • a meticulous approach to detail

Experience of working in a library would be advantageous.
