Location: IEG Preston, Rough Hey Road, Grimsargh PR2 5AR

Hours of work: Mon – Thurs, 7am – 5pm, 30 mins unpaid lunch (38 hours per week)

This key role involves

Key Responsibilities:

Stock Control & Inventory Management

  • Receive and book in/out deliveries of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and fabrication components.
  • Conduct routine stock checks and scheduled stock takes.
  • Monitor low stock and raise requests to the Procurement Manager

Stores Operations

  • Pick & issue components for Production, Fabrication & Service Departments as required.
  • Prepare kits ready for compactor & baler manufacture.
  • Ensure safe storage and labelling of all materials, consumables, and tools.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of stores and goods-in areas.
  • Monthly costings for the Stores department.

Goods in/out:

  • Unload/load vehicles using FLT (Counterbalance)
  • Check deliveries against delivery notes & purchase orders.
  • Pack and prepare parts and consumables for delivery to customer sites.
  • Coordinate with Service / Sales / Production departments to prepare packages for couriers.

Support to Production & Service Teams:

  • Prioritise issuing parts based on production schedules and service requirements.
  • Work closely with Sales, Service and Production departments.
  • Prepare urgent parts orders for breakdown support and service calls.
  • Cover other adhoc duties during peak times and provide holiday support. Additional duties may include yard work, paint workshop and shotblast. (Full training to be provided)

Health, Safety & Compliance:

  • Adhere to company safety procedures and UK H&S regulations.
  • Ensure proper handling of heavy components and hydraulic/electrical parts.
  • Operate forklifts and lifting equipment safely (certification desirable).

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential

  • Previous experience within a stores, warehouse or manufacturing warehouse.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to use inventory systems.
  • Competent with manual handling and basic tools.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Experience in engineering, fabrication, or mechanical/electrical stores.
  • Knowledge of compactor, baler, or heavy machinery components.
  • Valid forklift licence (Counterbalance).

Personal Attributes:

  • Reliable, proactive, and able to manage workload independently.
  • Strong communication skills with production, purchasing, and service teams.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on efficiency and accuracy.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £15.00-£15.45 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 38 per week
