Role Summary

The Occupational Health Manager will take responsibility for the clinical coordination and operational delivery of a specific client contract, ensuring the provision of a safe, efficient, and high-quality occupational health service.

Although this is a managerial role, it does not include direct line management responsibilities. The post holder will lead on the management of the contract rather than people, providing clinical oversight, coordination, and support to ensure the service meets contractual and clinical governance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Contract Operations Manager (COM) and Clinical Services Manager (CSM) with all clinical aspects of the contract, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing agreed changes in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Provide expert occupational health advice to the client, attending meetings with business partners, Health & Safety, and Wellbeing teams. Lead on policy reviews and ensure all clinical documentation undergoes an annual review.
  • Oversee the day-to-day clinical coordination of the service, ensuring safe and effective delivery, and highlight areas for development to meet contractual needs.
  • Support and mentor less experienced Occupational Health Advisors, contributing to their clinical learning and professional development (without formal line management duties).
  • Ensure all clinical guidance, protocols, and documentation are current, evidence-based, and compliant with professional standards.
  • Assist with complaint investigations, conduct clinical scrutiny of cases, and provide clinical input for complex case management and PAM referrals.
  • Undertake pre-placement assessments, including identifying immunisation requirements based on role-specific risk.
  • Deliver immunisations and participate in clinical audits to maintain quality assurance and continuous improvement.
  • Produce monthly reports to support performance monitoring, compliance, and contract review meetings.

Who Are We Looking For?

  • You will need to be a Registered General Nurse with experience in Occupational Health, as an Occupational Health Advisor.
  • An Occupational Health Nursing qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Proven track record of managing OH Contracts
  • Experienced in Occupational Health clinical delivery as OHA or similar
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Case management experience as an Occupational Health Advisor

What Can We Offer You?

  • 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays
  • Buy and sell holiday scheme
  • Professional Registration fees paid
  • Matched Pension Scheme
  • Health Cash Plan
  • Life Assurance
  • Annual flu jabs
  • Eye Test Voucher
  • Perkbox retail reward and discount scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Opportunities to progress in different areas on the business
  • Leadership training scheme if you would like to progress to leadership

Optima Health is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All applicants meeting the minimum criteria for the role will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, gender or gender expression, disability, race or ethnicity, religion or belief or sexual orientation.
