Fibre-Tech Industries (UK) Ltd is a well-established and growing precision engineering company based in Royston, Hertfordshire. We operate a busy and friendly production facility, supplying high-quality components to a range of industries. We are currently looking for an experienced Cylindrical Grinder to join our day shift team.
We welcome applications from candidates seeking either full-time or part-time hours, including those who are retired or planning for retirement but wish to stay active in the trade.
The Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for the precise grinding of components to tight tolerances on cylindrical grinding machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting and operating cylindrical grinding machines, preferably Jones & Shipman
- Working to detailed engineering drawings and exacting tolerances
- Inspecting work using appropriate measurement tools to ensure quality standards are met
- Managing workload to meet defined time, delivery, and quality performance targets
- Working with minimal supervision as part of a small, skilled team
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience operating cylindrical grinders
- Experience with Jones & Shipman machines highly desirable
- Strong understanding of precision engineering and close-tolerance work
- Ability to work independently and maintain high standards of accuracy
- Reliable, organised, and committed to producing quality work
Hours & Flexibility
This role is available on a full-time or part-time basis, and we are happy to discuss work patterns that suit both the candidate and the business. Ideal also for experienced machinists who wish to reduce hours as they move toward retirement.
