About this Role

Are you a practical, hands-on person dedicated to creating a safe, secure, and welcoming environment?

We are seeking a reliable and proactive School Site Assistant to join our dedicated Facilities Team. You will be a vital part of our school community, ensuring our campus is maintained to the highest standard. This role is essential to supporting outstanding teaching and learning by ensuring the school is always safe, clean, and fully operational.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Security & Safety: Conducting regular site inspections, managing security procedures (including locking/unlocking), and ensuring the overall safety of the school premises for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintenance & Repairs: Carrying out minor repairs, maintenance tasks (e.g., basic plumbing, joinery, decorating), and identifying issues that require specialist contractors.
  • Health & Safety: Actively supporting the Site Manager with statutory checks, such as testing fire alarms, emergency lighting, and water systems (legionella checks).
  • Site Operations: Assisting with porterage, managing deliveries, setting up rooms for assemblies, exams, and events, and liaising with cleaning staff to maintain high standards of presentation.
  • Team Collaboration: Working collaboratively with the wider facilities team and all school staff to respond efficiently to day-to-day operational needs.

  • Reliable & Trustworthy: You are punctual, dependable, and can be trusted with the responsibility of securing the school site.
  • A Team Player: You can work independently using your own initiative but also thrive as part of a supportive team.
  • Flexible & Adaptable: You are willing to learn new skills, undertake training (e.g., Health & Safety, First Aid), and adapt to the changing priorities of a busy school day.
  • Desirable (but not essential): Previous experience in a school or a similar caretaking/maintenance role would be an advantage.
