SEND Teaching Assistant- Islington

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a small, specialist school in Islington offering bespoke education for students with a wide range of complex needs. This is a "special" Special School—a place where children who've struggled to access mainstream or larger SEND provisions are finally understood and supported in the way they deserve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with complex needs including ASD, SEMH, ADHD, and trauma
  • Work 1:1 or in small groups on personalised learning plans
  • Assist with emotional regulation, behaviour support and daily routines
  • Liaise with therapists, families and staff to ensure consistent and effective care
  • Promote student independence, confidence and progress in a non-judgemental, therapeutic environment

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working in alternative or specialist SEND settings
  • Trauma-informed and able to build trust with vulnerable young people
  • Calm, grounded and resilient with a child-centred mindset
  • Understanding of multi-agency working and holistic approaches
  • Willing to engage in ongoing reflective practice and training
