Nursery Practitioner

Location: Forest Gate, London E7

Contract: Full time, year round

Hours: Monday to Friday, shifts between 8:00am and 6:00pm

Salary: Competitive, dependent on qualification and experience

About Good Shepherd Day Nursery

Good Shepherd Day Nursery is a small, friendly setting caring for up to 16 children at any one time. We are based on Romford Road and have a natural outdoor area. We are open all year from Monday to Friday, closing only on Bank Holidays, over Christmas and for staff training days.

The role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Nursery Practitioner to provide high quality care and education for children aged 0 to 4 in a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment. You will be a key person, build strong relationships with families and work closely with colleagues to deliver the EYFS.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and evaluate engaging learning experiences indoors and outdoors that meet individual needs
  • Act as a key person, observing, assessing and recording children's progress and next steps
  • Work in partnership with parents and carers, sharing information on learning and wellbeing
  • Promote positive behaviour, communication and independence
  • Follow safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection procedures
  • Maintain a clean, safe and well organised environment, completing daily checks and records
  • Support daily routines including mealtimes, sleep, nappy changing and potty training
  • Contribute to team meetings, training, reflective practice and the development of nursery policies
  • Provide inclusive practice and support for children with SEND under the guidance of the Room Leader
  • Be flexible and help with day to day tasks such as preparing snacks and cleaning equipment

About you

  • Level 2 Early Years qualification as a minimum; Level 3 preferred
  • At least 2 years' experience in an early years setting
  • Sound knowledge of the EYFS and child development
  • Strong communication, teamwork and record keeping skills
  • Paediatric First Aid certificate or willingness to complete
  • Right to work in the UK and willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references
