We have an amazing opportunity for you to join us as a Network Control Lead Within this role you will be working as part of the wider Network Control teams that manage ST's network 24/7.

You will be responsible for the management of a team of 24/7 Waste Controllers, Waste Telemetry Technicians and Waste Infra Technical Experts, building strong operational links with Waste Water teams.

In this role as a Waste Network Control Lead you will be responsible for managing the operational control centre teams for reactive and planned activities on the wastewater networks for infra and non-infra. This includes the tanker and logistics plans, incident response, pollution reporting and alarm handling.

Finally, the role is also responsible for incident management, taking the lead on operational events before escalating to more senior positions for support in response to issues across the network.

Please note, this role is 24/7 shift based (all year round). We have both a
Permanent and Fixed term contract opportunity available- you will be applying for both.

What You'll Bring To The Role
Your Key Accountabilities in this role include:

  • You will be needed to oversee EDM alarm handling processes to ensure all potential pollutions are investigated & act as an escalation point for Waste Network Control.
  • You'll also oversee and manage the Waste Network control team including on boarding activities and will identify improvements required to deliver a cost effective and efficient waste alarm handling model.
  • You'll become a point of contact for all pollution reporting / burst rising main queries and support pollution root cause analysis.
  • You'll have strong rapport building skills as you establish and maintain a great working relationship with team managers across Waste Networks and Waste Water Recycling teams.
  • However you'll also need to hold field teams to account for reporting pollution impact assessments back to the Waste Controller, to ensure compliance to Environment Agency reporting SLAs.
  • You'll also need to act as an escalation point between the WPO (Workforce Planning and Optimisation) and Waste Networks around resource requirements.
  • Finally, you will get to develop a close working relationship with the WNRT (Waste Network Response Team) to develop incident response and support logistics requirements & own the tanker plan, compile relevant management information and undertake analysis to assess performance.

Further Accountabilities Include

  • Drive time to report pollution performance and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Liaison with COSC and their forecast demand (resources and SLA determination levels)
  • Responsible for continuous improvement on site contingency plans.
  • Responsible for EA liaison for Network Control.
  • Responsible for capturing costs during events for post review analysis.
  • Play an active part in the wider Control Centre improvement plan in conjunction with the wider Control Centre Management Team – Flexing teams and workload between reactive and planned activity when needs must.
  • Responsible for ensuring the team are managing tanker resource effectively to minimise risk to environment whilst also considering cost and resource implications.
