We are looking for experienced Emergency Nurses with post registration experience as a Band 5 in Emergency Care for this Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse role in the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.

This individual will have a clear track record of enthusiasm, drive and a commitment to improving the experience of people using our services and show that they have worked well as a whole team within the Emergency department which includes both in adult and paediatric areas.

The post holder will support the current Emergency Department Senior Nurse and the Band 7 Sisters/Charge Nurses in ensuring the highest standard of nursing care is provided, monitored and evaluated.

You will be someone who has change management skills and demonstrates a high level of commitment to seeing plans through within agreed timescales.

You will be a team player and have the skills to rapidly develop effective leadership of an established nursing team.

The post holder will be a clinical expert and will be regularly in charge of specific areas within the Emergency department and the Emergency Department as a whole. The post holder will have to work closely with the senior nurse and consultant colleagues to ensure the safety and comfort for our patients.

Along with the relevant Emergency department experience, the successful candidate would be required to be Manchester Triage trained supporting triage at both the RGH and YCR MIU. The successful candidate will display excellent communication and interpersonal skills, functioning effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team, supporting junior team members. The candidate would require excellent organisation, time management and delegation skills as part of their role and have the ability to work effectively in challenging situations.

It is essential you have a special interest that you would like to carry forward as a project to ensure that we are constantly improving.

You must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate the ability to form productive professional relationships with colleagues.

The Health Board currently operate a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30-minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements.
