· Work as part of a housekeeping team as per staff rota on daily cleaning routines under the guidance of the Registered Manager/Nurse in Charge.

· Cleaning, washing, sweeping, vacuum cleaning, emptying litter bins, dusting, damp wiping and polishing of communal areas, sluice/toilet and bathrooms and resident's bathrooms in line with the home's cleaning schedules.

· Use appropriate signage for example wet floor signs, to indicate cleaning in progress.

· Complete and sign any cleaning schedules as required.

· Only use cleaning products from the home's approved suppliers.

· Ensure you are familiar with all cleaning substances and the safety measures to be observed in their safe usage.

· Become familiar with COSHH regulations and ensure that all cleaning products are used in accordance with the product safety data sheets.

· Do not decant cleaning products into unlabeled bottles and applicators.

· Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as directed.

· All bathroom, toilets and sluices to be cleaned using correct colour coded mops and buckets.

· Ensure the home has adequate supplies of cleaning materials, paper and hygiene products.

· Restock bathrooms with paper and hygiene products.

· Check all electrical equipment each time before use to ensure that power cables, plugs and switches are free from damage. DO NOT USE if damaged, report to Manager/Nurse in Charge.

· Report to the Registered Manager/Nurse in Charge any broken or damaged furniture, fixtures, fittings and equipment within the home.

· Ensure all corridors and fire exits are free of clutter and kept clear at all times.

· Ensure infection control, Health and Safety policies and procedures are followed at all times. Ensure you are familiar with the home's operational and staff policies and procedures.

· To carry out other duties deemed suitable to your skills and abilities as required by Registered Manager/Nurse in Charge.

· Identify and report to Registered Manager/Nurse in Charge any training needs you might have to enable you to perform your duties better.

· Attend all statutory training and other training as directed by Registered Manager/Nurse in Charge.

· Attend staff meeting to keep yourself up to date with changes within the home and to input your ideas and concerns about the home.

· Greet relatives and visitors to the home in a friendly manner and refer them to the Registered Manager/Nurse in Charge if they ask about residents. Do not share with family/visitors any concerns you might have about residents, always refer them to the Manager/Nurse in Charge.

· Be aware of fire procedures and firefighting equipment to be used in the event of a fire.
