We expect you to:
Be at least 17 years and 9 months of age or over at the expected commencement date
Have good numeracy and literacy skills
Have excellent communication skills
Be able to demonstrate a caring and compassionate disposition and the commitment to work in a challenging but rewarding health care environment
As an apprentice, you can expect from us:
Full training by:
Working alongside experienced staff to support you and help gain the practical skills you need
Learning job-specific skills
Achieving the "All Wales NHS HCA Induction within 3 months of commencement
Achieving a Level 2 vocational qualification as a Health Care Assistant within 2 years of commencement
All of your training will be paid for in full
A great experience of working as part of a team, making a real difference
Eligibility criteria for Government Funded Apprenticeships Schemes (Applicable to this post)
Individuals who already hold a degree are not eligible to undertake a Level 2 Apprenticeship
Applicants must not already hold a Level 2 qualification in the Healthcare
Healthcare Assistant Apprentices will receive appropriate training and guidance to undertake the full range of duties.
Understand the role and willingness to learn and develop theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
The role involves assisting trained staff in delivering care to patients at their most vulnerable times, ensuring dignity and respect is maintained throughout. Assisting patients to meet their personal care needs, assisting with meals and drinks throughout the day. Health Care Support Workers are also required to carry out general cleaning in the clinical environment by preparing bed spaces and cleaning equipment. The post holder needs to have good communication skills and be an effective team player. Staff will be supported to complete mandatory training.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
