CHEF WANTED – KAIJAH LOUNGE

Kaijah Lounge is an exciting new Afro-Southern grill and cocktail lounge launching in Moston, Manchester. We combine bold Southern African flavours with Brazilian-style grilling and modern steakhouse techniques. We are now seeking a talented Chef to join our kitchen team as we prepare for launch.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Grill Chef, Chef de Partie, or ambitious Senior Chef who wants to be part of creating a new and vibrant dining concept.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a chef with:

• Experience in a steakhouse, grill, Afro-inspired, or Brazilian-style kitchen
• Strong charcoal/open-flame grilling skills
• A passion for flavour, presentation, and modern twists on classic dishes
• The ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn and contribute to menu ideas

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and cook dishes to a high and consistent standard
• Work across grill, prep, and hot sections as required
• Assist with menu development and specials when needed
• Maintain stock rotation and support inventory control
• Uphold strict food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness standards
• Support smooth kitchen operations in coordination with the senior chef team

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

• 2+ years' experience as a Chef, Grill Chef, or similar role
• Experience with open-flame and charcoal cooking techniques
• Knowledge of or interest in:
• Southern African cuisine (braai, boerewors, pap, chakalaka)
• Nigerian dishes (suya, peppered fish, grilled meats, jollof)
• Brazilian grilling (churrasco, picanha, farofa)
• Ability to adapt, modernise, or recreate traditional dishes
• Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team
• Level 2 or 3 Food Hygiene Certificate (preferred)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: £14.80-£18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Work Location: In person
