SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

Environmental Enforcement Officer's (EEO) protect the environment from crime, witnesses of crime and providing enforcement action on behalf of local authorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Main purpose of the role

As an enforcement team leader, you will be expected to lead from the front, leading a team of environmental enforcement officers and patrolling the borough in an intelligence led manner, engaging with members of the community and enforcing legislation by the way of issuing an 'on the spot' fixed penalty notices for littering, dog fouling and other related contraventions as required.

Responsibilities as an Environmental Enforcement Officer:

  • Brand ambassadors for the local authority and 3GS (UK) Limited
  • Patrolling the area of principal littering authority in accordance with an agreed deployment strategy
  • Investigating complaints made by elected members and members of the public
  • Engaging and educating members of the public regarding environmental crime
  • Interacting directly with offenders and issuing fixed penalty notices for authorised offences in accordance with legislation, ensuring that the evidential and public interest tests have been met
  • Compiling a full notebook entry and witness statement for every issued fixed penalty notice
  • Obtaining and validating the personal particulars of an offender by contacting the operational support team
  • Attending court and giving evidence if required

Responsibilities as a Team Leader:

  • Manage the day-to-day contract and liaise with the clients on site
  • Motivate a team and promote a happy working environment, leading by example, performance management and promoting a good practice method of development

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a customer service role and handling difficult situations in a professional manner
  • The ability to communicate with offenders, often in demanding circumstances in a calm and assertive manner
  • The ability to deal with members of the public from all cultures and backgrounds in a diplomatic and professional manner
  • The ability to be resilient, as some interactions with offenders can become confrontational
  • The ability to defuse hostile situations in a professional manner
  • Must enjoy working outdoors and in all weather conditions
  • The ability to work under pressure, independently or as part of a team and on own initiative to carry out the enforcement role
  • Excellent communication skills are required both verbally and written
  • Will be physically fit as you may be required to carry our foot patrol for prolonged periods
  • Previous management experience and the willingness to progress within the company

A full UK driving licence is essential for this role

Please note that all candidates will have to go through a DBS process prior to employment and will need a full five-year checkable work history.

FLEXABILITY

All job roles could be subject change due to operational and client needs. You may be asked to take on other tasks within the business during certain periods of a working week.

Times of work

8 hour shifts, 5 days over 7 shift pattern

Salary

£29,120, per annum which equates to an hourly rate of £14

Terms of the role

Full time and permanent, subject to 6-month probationary period
