We are seeking Team Doctors to support the delivery of high-quality medical services to the England Para Football teams (Blind Men's/Women's, Deaf Men's/Women's, Cerebral Palsy, Partially Sighted, and Powerchair). The post-holders will play a key role in developing resilient, high-performing Para Footballers and contributing to England's continued success on the international stage.

This is a casual contract initially running until 31 July 2026 with potential to extend further, with an anticipated commitment of up to 50 days per season, including duties that may require travel outside the UK.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • To deliver excellent medical care across training and match environments (including equipment reviews/checks and Emergency Action Plans) in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team whilst on camp with England Para Football squads;
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with England Para Football national coaches and performance support staff to ensure an effective multi-disciplinary approach to medical delivery;
  • Comply with all pre-/post-camp and tournament MDT meetings and ensure up-to-date attendance for all mandated training (i.e., ATMMiF, UKAD Advisor, CRC check, Safeguarding, Mental Health Training) to facilitate compliance with all safeguarding policies;
  • Maintain a consistent presence with your linked team, building trusted relationships with players and staff, by prioritising attendance at major tournaments and international fixtures for your designated squad;
  • In conjunction with the lead Physiotherapist and squad Physiotherapist, maintain accurate medical records (both on camp and away from camp) on the PMA software system in line with GMC and FA protocols, and participate in all necessary audits and governance projects within the Para Football pathway;
  • Contribute positively to the camp environment, understanding the unique medical and social context of para-sport including off-camp support;
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with the Para Football Lead Performance Doctor, the Para Football Player Health Lead, and the Para Football Performance Support Manager to ensure a smooth and effective transition of care for any injuries that are reported on or off camp (including liaising with club/community clinicians on player readiness and return-to-play where necessary);
  • Contribute to the dissemination and implementation of the Para Football Athlete Health Strategy and ensure alignment with FA protocols on injury, illness, anti-doping, emergency care, and safeguarding;
  • Executes additional tasks as required to meet the FA's changing priorities.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing can be maintained.
  • As part of the FA's commitment to ensuring a safe environment for everyone in football, every employee will be required to complete a DBS check. The level of the check required will be based on the activity of the specific job role and in line with legislation and government guidance.

What Will You Need?

Essential for the role:

  • GMC registration with a licence to practise in the UK;
  • Current ATMMIF qualification, or recognized equivalent (PHICIS Level 3);
  • Experience as a team Doctor in sport;
  • Awareness of the unique demands of Para sport;
  • Confidence in MSK and primary care settings;
  • Outstanding ability to communicate and build relationships with players, coaching staff, and other stakeholders (e.g., parents);
  • Track record of successfully integrating into an MDT in the sports setting;
  • A clear commitment to continuity of care and regular contribution to the programme, including attendance at major tournaments with your linked squad;
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally overseas.

Beneficial to have:

  • A Diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine (or working towards completion);
  • Experience of working in Para sport;
  • Experience in working in international sport and travelling with squads;
  • Experience in working in international or club football;
  • Experience in working in women's football;
  • Evidence of undertaking virtual consultations and delivering clinical consultations remotely;
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing a preventative model of care at a systems level.
  • A passion for learning, developing, and contributing to a world-class programme in para-sport
