Role Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Development Placement Student to join our team on a 12-month contract commencing in July 2026 in our Process Research and Development department. The job holder will support the development of new processes, as well as provide technical support and continued improvement of existing processes. The Development Placement Student will also perform general laboratory duties to assist the smooth running of the laboratory under the supervision of project or technical leads.
Core Responsibilities:
Exhibits safety awareness conducting lab and other operations in a safe manner holding themselves accountable for safe behaviour in the work environment.
Maintains work area in a clean, tidy and safe condition
Ensures personal compliance with all safety related procedures or risk assessments
Works within the Veranova Quality System, carrying out scientific work as in line with this standard.
Keeps accurate, legible and complete records of all experiments, observations and equipment.
- Follows all SOPs
Produces development and technical reports, SOP's and other documents to the required standards.
Conducts laboratory experiments and investigative work in the laboratory and production plant, under the direction of line manager, Project and Technical leads.
Participates in the execution of procedures within the required timeline under supervision.
Promptly seeks guidance if required to ensure this.
Demonstrates good communication across a range of media.
- Works with line manager, Project and Technical leads to develop skills and knowledge of process chemistry and analytical techniques.
- Seeks guidance to learn the skills required to balance a variety of tasks.
- Consistently demonstrates the competencies associated with this role.
- Carries out any other duties which are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
Qualifications
:
- Currently be studying a Chemistry or Pharmaceutical sciences based Undergraduate degree or relevant scientific degree and completed 3 years of study by July 2026.
- Have practical laboratory experience
- Be flexible to adapt to changing priorities and have a willingness to learn
- Have high attention to detail and able to maintain accuracy
- Have strong communication skills with an ability to communicate technical information to a wide range of audiences
- Have a problem-solving mind set with the ability to work independently.
