Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join the WTW Climate Practice as an Associate (Senior Analyst), specializing in physical climate risks and resilience.

The successful candidate will join a team of industry-leading experts spanning insurance, science, catastrophe modelling, and engineering, with the aim of providing unrivalled analytical services in climate change, natural hazards, adaptation, and resilience.

Working in a flexible hybrid environment, you will encounter a variety of technical challenges as diverse as the industries and individuals we serve, involving projects on a global scale. The position is London-based with flexible working. 

A key aspect of this opportunity is the expectation that you will apply in-depth climate and natural hazard expertise in risk management, combined with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

In addition to supporting and leading consulting projects, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to the growth of the climate practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support consulting projects for WTW's corporate clients in physical climate change risks and natural catastrophes by utilising data, research, problem-solving, and analytical models and tools. Opportunity to lead and manage consulting projects.

  • Manage and lead analytical tasks and processes associated with our projects (e.g., working with data, modelling portfolios, running models, using climate data, creating dashboards, etc.).

  • Support a wide range of consulting projects globally, including climate change risk assessments, adaptation planning and assessment, catastrophe risk modelling, and risk engineering assessments.

  • Present deliverables to internal and external clients.

  • Interact with other specialists in actuarial modelling, enterprise risk management, transition risk, insurance, and sustainability.

  • Support the development and application of innovative approaches for identifying and quantifying climate and natural hazard risks for clients, particularly in regions where no standardized risk assessment tools or models exist.

  • Help develop business opportunities in the climate and natural catastrophe risk consulting space.

  • Keep up to date with the latest scientific, business, and regulatory developments related to climate change.

  • Share knowledge, collaborate, and mentor junior team members.

Qualifications
  • Strong analytical, engineering, science, or mathematical background, with an interest in climate change, natural hazards, and sustainability.

  • Proactive and motivated, with strong critical thinking skills, willing to take ownership of projects and responsibilities, and able to thrive in a growing consultancy team environment.

  • Able to communicate scientific, statistical, mathematical, and financial concepts to non-technical audiences; comfortable and enthusiastic presenter.

  • Ability to leverage available data sources to answer questions and solve problems.

  • Knowledge of GIS tools, R, Power BI, and coding would be an advantage.

  • Expertise in a particular natural hazard (e.g., flood) would be an advantage.

  • Where possible, experience using third-party climate or catastrophe models such as RMS, AIR, RQE, KatRisk, or at least a good understanding of probabilistic and catastrophe modelling concepts.
