Overview of the Role

Unimed Pharmacy, an independent Distance Selling Pharmacy based in Oadby, Leicester, is seeking an experienced and qualified Pharmacy Dispenser. This pivotal role requires a highly accurate and organised individual to manage the dispensing process and provide essential administrative support, ensuring the efficient and safe supply of medicines to our customers via online orders.

As part of our wider healthcare group, which also includes Vets4U, a dedicated veterinary pharmaceutical service, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic organisation committed to delivering excellence across both human and veterinary medicine.

Key Responsibilities

Dispensing and Stock Control

  • Accurately and efficiently dispense prescription medicines, including the final assembly and labelling of items, under the supervision of the responsible pharmacist.
  • Manage stock levels by assisting with ordering, receiving, storing, and rotating pharmacy inventory to minimise waste and ensure product availability.
  • Process and manage expired or unwanted medicines for safe and compliant disposal.
  • Ensure all dispensing practices adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and relevant pharmaceutical legislation.

Pharmacy Administration

  • Accurately maintain and update patient medication records (PMRs) and other necessary paperwork.
  • Handle and process incoming prescriptions, ensuring all details are correct and resolved before dispensing.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks, including filing, data entry, and communication logs.
  • Manage the preparation of orders for despatch, including packing securely and coordinating with delivery services.
  • Dealing with customer queries over the phone or via email.

Quality and Compliance

  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organisation in the dispensing and storage areas.
  • Actively participate in training and quality assurance initiatives to support the pharmacy's distance selling accreditation standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Qualification: Must hold a recognised NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience: Proven, recent experience working in a pharmacy dispensing role is essential.
  • Accuracy: Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to working with high precision.
  • IT Proficiency: Competent in using computerised Patient Medication Record (PMR) systems, ideally TITAN and Digitail for vets, and general office software.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with the pharmacist, team members, and postal/courier services.
  • Reliability: Highly reliable, punctual, and able to manage time effectively to meet dispensing deadlines.
