The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a specialist in animatronics to play a key role at the Theatre Screen and Performance school at Wimbledon College of Arts, part of University of the Arts London, teaching students how to make animatronics for film, theatre and the wider entertainment industry.
As a Lecturer in Animatronics and Mechanised Movement you'll be responsible for teaching, curriculum development, and on-going scholarship on the Technical Arts for Theatre and Performance course.
You'll be delivering the animatronic needs of a prop making course and your input will cover all three years of the course, spanning concept and design, materials, fabrication, applied and interactive art, and synchronising voices with an animatronic prototype.
You'll also be responsible for undergraduate students' pastoral support, progress and attendance, maintaining records and liaising with colleagues as appropriate.
Your profile
You'll need experience of teaching and assessment in a Higher Education environment or equivalent experience, as well as a relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in animatronics.
You'll have extensive experience at animating and designing large creatures and animated displays by using both electronic and mechanical methods of movement.
An extensive knowledge of how animatronics is taught at a basic and more advanced level is equally important.
