Trainee Assistant Manager – Convenience Store (Fife)

Hourly rate: £14.00

We are an expanding and growing convenience store business in Fife and we're looking for a committed Trainee Assistant Manager to join our store team.

The Role

As Trainee Assistant Manager, you'll help the Store Manager with the day-to-day running of a busy convenience store, including:

  • Supporting and supervising staff on shift
  • Providing outstanding customer service to local customers and regulars
  • Operating tills, handling cash, lottery and payment systems
  • Stock replenishment, merchandising and date-checking chilled and ambient stock
  • Ensuring availability of key lines (bread, milk, newspapers, snacks, etc.)
  • Receiving and checking deliveries
  • Maintaining store standards – cleanliness, signage and shop floor presentation
  • Helping to meet sales targets and store performance goals

This is a hands-on role where you'll spend most of your time on the shop floor.

Hours & Shifts

  • Between 40 – 50 hours per week
  • Business opening hours: 5.30am – 10.00pm
  • You must be prepared to work early shifts, late shifts and weekends
  • Shifts will be on a rota basis to ensure full cover of opening hours

About You

  • Convenience or general retail experience is an advantage but not essential
  • Friendly, approachable and customer-focused
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable, punctual and willing to go the extra mile
  • Able to use your initiative and support others in the team
  • Keen to learn and develop into a full Assistant Manager role

Training & Development

Full training will be provided, including:

  • Store systems, till operation and cash handling
  • Convenience store procedures (age-restricted sales, lottery, tobacco, etc.)
  • Customer service and complaint handling
  • Merchandising and stock control
  • Supervisory skills and day-to-day store management
