Overview of the Role
As a Senior IAM Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the ongoing transformation of our Identity & Access Management services as we migrate from Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) to Entra ID. You will contribute to the design, implementation, and operational support of cloud-first IAM services, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable identity solutions for the university. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, enhance service quality, drive automation, and continuously improve our IAM capabilities to meet evolving business and security needs.

Core Responsibilities

• Contribute and support the migration from MIM to Microsoft Entra ID
• Own and operate IAM services within Entra ID and hybrid environments
• Manage support queues and meet SLAs for incidents and service requests
• Monitor and respond to identity-related security events using Microsoft Defender, Entra ID risk signals, and audit logs
• Design, implement, and manage SSO, MFA, Conditional Access, and Privileged Identity Management (PIM)
• Automate IAM processes w/ PowerShell, Graph & workflow orchestration tools as well as
• Maintain and troubleshoot AD, DNS, and directory synchronization services
• Integrate apps using modern authentication protocols (SAML, OAuth, OIDC)
• Apply Zero Trust and least privilege principles across identity services
• Enhance IAM resilience threat protection using modern identity security features
• Partner with stakeholders to deliver secure and user-centric identity solutions

• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Identity platforms, especially Entra ID
• Hands-on experience with IAM migrations or modernization projects
• Strong understanding of modern authentication and access control models
• Proven ability to design, implement, and operate identity lifecycle and role-based access solutions
• Knowledge of Zero Trust, hybrid identity, and identity governance
• Ability to analyse security signals and drive remediation
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical topics for non-technical audiences
