Electronics Engineer (Prototype Development & Embedded Systems)

Based at the Bay Innovation Centre in Port Talbot, we're combining practical engineering, scientific insight, and a clear clinical goal to bring our concept to life. The Role

We're looking for a hands-on Electronics Engineer to design and build our first working prototypes. This role is ideal for a self-starter who enjoys solving problems and working across disciplines. You'll take ownership of circuit design, PCB layout, component selection, and hardware assembly, while also developing and integrating embedded software/firmware for control, sensing, and data capture. You'll be working closely with the founders to translate technical and clinical ideas into functioning prototypes ready for testing and further development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, assemble, and test prototype electronics and embedded systems.

  • Develop and debug firmware/software for microcontrollers and sensor integration.

  • Work hands-on with components, instruments, and lab setups to validate designs.

  • Support documentation for design reviews and early compliance preparation.

  • Contribute ideas across hardware, software, and system design decisions.

About You

You're practical, adaptable, and comfortable taking initiative in a small, focused team. You have strong electronic design and prototyping skills, and enjoy turning ideas into working systems. Experience in medical or regulated industries is a bonus, but not essential—what matters most is creativity, technical rigour, and the drive to make things work.

Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 30 – 37.5 per week
