is the world's leading brand in composite bearing material for wear resistant bearings under high load. With over 60 years' experience in composite bearings, our Rotherham facility provides a full service, from engineering concept to delivery of a bearing solution for specialist markets such as marine, hydro & tidal power.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Manager to oversee manufacturing operations within our organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for successful delivery of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets, coordinating production activities, ensuring quality standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to optimise processes to meet organisational goals effectively.
With line management responsibility for 7 Production Supervisors and indirect leadership over wider production teams, your focus will be on achieving manufacturing sales revenue, ensuring on-time order delivery, optimising team performance, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
What be you'll doing?
In this role, you will:
- Set and enforce the quality and H&S standards.
- Lead and manage daily production activities to ensure efficient operations and adherence to safety standards.
- Drive process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing productivity, reducing waste, and enhancing product quality.
- Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed.
- Monitor productivity rates and product standards and implement quality control programmes.
- Liaise with the procurement department to ensure that the required components are available.
- Liaise across teams and departments to ensure a smooth and efficient production process, making sure everyone is aware of any process changes and improvements.
- Oversee quality control procedures to ensure products meet specified standards and compliance regulations.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on assembly processes and mechanical troubleshooting to optimise manufacturing workflows.
- Manage a team of supervisors and operators, providing coaching, training, and performance feedback.
- Set worker performance goals, evaluate and review performance, and identify training needs.
- Analyse production data to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies and implement corrective actions improvement to quality, delivery, and efficiency
- Maintain documentation related to process improvements, safety protocols, and operational procedures.
- Conduct root cause analysis on production issues and proposing actionable solutions (NCR's).
What we need from you:
To be successful in this role you will:
- Possess a minimum of 5 years' proven experience in manufacturing or production management within a similar industry.
- Ideally be an engineer who understands good manufacturing practice and has experience of automation, machine tools,
- Have strong knowledge of SAP, ERP systems, and supply chain management principles.
- Be able to demonstrable expertise in process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
- Have mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand assembly processes and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Be experienced in quality control practices and implementing continuous improvement strategies.
- Possess excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Have strong leadership qualities with a focus on team development and motivation.
- Possess relevant qualifications in engineering, manufacturing technology or related fields are desirable. - Although not essential, it is desirable that you have previous experience with composites and bearings.
