Groundworkers – Beam Forming Works About the Role

We're looking for experienced Groundworkers to join our groundworks and concrete structures team, focusing on beam forming and finishing works.

You'll play a key role in preparing, setting out, and forming beams to the highest standards, working closely with site engineers, supervisors, and concrete gangs to ensure quality, accuracy, and safety across all site activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out beam forming, including preparation, setting out, and finishing to specified tolerances.
  • Work alongside machine drivers, banksmen, and concrete teams to deliver efficient and safe operations.
  • Complete associated finishing works such as kerbs, slabs, and edgings.
  • Maintain safe working distances, exclusion zones, and adhere to all traffic and lifting plans.
  • Identify and report any defects, irregularities, or obstructions (e.g., high reinforcement, debris, incorrect beam or pile spacing).
  • Perform pre-start and post-operation equipment checks, reporting any issues immediately.
  • Adhere to all company and site-specific Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards.
  • Support other groundworks or concrete activities when required.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in beam forming and finishing works within a civils or groundworks environment.
  • Valid CPCS or NPORS card (Excavator Operator, Dumper, Roller, or Lifting Ops beneficial).
  • Ability to read and work from technical drawings and setting-out information.
  • Sound understanding of safe working practices around reinforced concrete and live construction areas.
  • Strong awareness of Health & Safety, including vibration, noise, dust, and exclusion zone control.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to follow instructions and maintain consistent quality.

Desirable

  • SSSTS or equivalent supervisor qualification.
  • Additional plant tickets (Telehandler, Dumper, Roller, etc.).
  • Experience on large RC frame or infrastructure projects.
  • Manual handling, confined space, or lifting-related training.
