Senior Financial Accountant, External Reporting

Location: Weybridge, UK

Sony Europe are on the hunt for an accomplished Senior Financial Accountant with proven expertise in statutory accounting and external reporting to join our European finance team. This is a critical role with responsibility for leading the preparation and submission of statutory accounts, tax packs, and returns for designated entities, ensuring full compliance with local legislation and group policies.

You will be our
subject matter expert
on statutory reporting and tax compliance across Sony Europe and our Sports business entities, as well as designated Global Financial Accounting entities, providing trusted guidance to senior finance stakeholders.

Beyond day-to-day reporting, you'll have the opportunity to dive into various projects that improve processes and systems, helping us achieve greater efficiency and consistency across multiple entities

You will:

  • Lead preparation and submission of statutory accounts, tax packs, and tax returns for designated European entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Be the go-to expert for tax reporting and compliance across Sony Europe and our Sports business entities, as well as statutory accounting for designated Global Finance Accounting entities. Acting as a trusted advisor to the Finance team, you'll ensure all reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant.
  • Oversee our external partner and all aspects of tax compliance, including reporting, transfer pricing, corporate and deferred tax positions, tax losses/credits, and timely tax payments.
  • Drive process and system improvements to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy, including supporting system implementations.
  • Coordinate and manage external providers and support local tax audits in collaboration with the Global Tax Office.
  • Collect, validate, and deliver accurate tax and financial data, including adjustments required to meet local statutory requirements.
  • Provide proactive finance and tax guidance to internal stakeholders and act as a key liaison across Group Reporting, Global Tax, and local business teams.

You will bring:

Critical

  • Part Qualified/Qualified Accountant OR demonstrable significant reporting experience in a multi-company/entity environment
    (We are willing to provide study support for those who are yet to qualify)
  • Experience of tax compliance and reporting, gained in a multi-national corporate environment utilising finance shared services and/or business process outsourcing.
  • Ability to simplify technical tax concepts and provide training and coaching, for improved understanding by team members without tax expertise.
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent organisation skills and focus on critical deadlines.

Desirable

  • Experience & knowledge of SAP ERP system
  • Experience of operating within a global virtual team
