As the National Lead Force for Economic Crime officers investigate complex fraud which could have international connections to community based policing.

About The Role
The Specialist Operations Directorate provides support and expertise to all investigative units across the City of London Police.

There is a vacancy for an experienced Intelligence Analyst to join the Sensitive Intelligence Unit (SIU). The SIU cover a wide variety of crime types relating to Serious and Organised crime threats. The post holder will provide direct analytical support, to proactive operational investigation teams. There will be a requirement to maintain strong and effective working relationships with these teams.

Working within a team, your skills could help make an impact towards our objectives around tackling serious and organised crime. Using your knowledge and experience of the National Intelligence Model your role will inform and develop intelligence products for proactive investigations and the delivery of research, assessments and time critical intelligence.

The role will involve working closely with other partner agencies, developing and sustaining effective working relationships and providing representation at agency meetings where required.

Responsibilities

  • To analyse problems and generate intelligence products in line with problems identified utilizing a range of specialist techniques. This will include the use of communications data and other available intelligence systems.
  • To identify intelligence gaps and make recommendations based on consultation with experts and stakeholders.
  • To participate in the onward progression of operational planning and activity through the provision and presentation of intelligence products and analytical inferences.
  • To liaise with other Intelligence development units where appropriate.
  • To develop, evidential standard analytical products to support proactive investigations.
  • Potential requirement to support corporate initiatives and critical operational requirements, which may involve working from alternative locations and outside existing responsibilities.

Essential criteria

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an intelligence analyst.
  • Applicants must possess excellent interpersonal skills and have a proven analytical background, law enforcement preferred but not required, with proven experience in tactical and operational analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills to evaluate information/intelligence and provide accurate key findings and recommendations that assist deliverance of intelligence led and evidence-based policing.
  • Excellent decision-making skills and the ability to communicate decisions to stakeholder groups and effectively manage their expectations.
  • Ability to identify and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and associated processes.
  • Have received (or in the process of) Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) certification.

Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience of working in a law enforcement Sensitive Intelligence Unit.
  • Current Developed Vetting.
