We have an exciting opportunity to join our Research and Partnerships department as a Project Manager sitting within the Children's and Young people'ss Cancer team

Here at Cancer Research UK, children's and young people's cancer is a priority area of focus with a dedicated strategy to address the unique challenges holding back progress.

The children's and young people's strategy aims to improve survival and long-term quality of life for all children and young people affected by cancer. Achieving this will be crucial to our organisational vision of bringing about a world where everybody can lead longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.

The Children's and Young People's team is responsible for developing and delivering this strategy, coordinating cross-organisational activities and ensuring our strategic objectives are met.

This is a unique opportunity to play an integral part in our growing ambition to drive progress and improve outcomes for children and young people affected by cancer.

What will I be doing?
Through effective project management and working across multiple teams, directorates and external stakeholders, this unique role will help shape and deliver our strategic programme of work in childhood and teenage and young adult cancer research.

  • Develop and deliver distinct areas of strategic activity and projects within the children's and young people's cancer research programme to aid in overall delivery of key objectives
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities and areas of need to further our organisational ambition for children's and young people's cancers
  • Rapidly build an understanding, and keep up to date on the children's and young people's cancer landscape in CRUK and beyond, to contribute to in-house expertise, providing knowledge across the organisation
  • Work with the children's and young people's team to support in developing, coordinating and managing delivery across breadth of strategic activities in order to drive progress for children's and young people's cancer research.

What are you looking for?
You could come from a Research Funding background, another cancer or health charity or have worked in an academic institute or higher education or industry, whatever your background you'll be able to demonstrate:

  • A proven track record of leading on and successfully delivering complex, multi-stakeholder projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly develop and sustain strong networks and relationships with stakeholders from a variety of fields, including senior academics and clinicians.
  • A science degree with additional relevant experience of working in an academic or clinical setting in the UK would be preferable
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks, working to challenging targets and deadline
