Overview

The role of a Care Worker is vital in providing compassionate and dedicated support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. Care Workers play a crucial part in enhancing the quality of life for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those requiring specialised care. This position involves working in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and clients' homes.

Duties

  • Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Provide patient care and support for individuals with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other cognitive impairments
  • Administer medication as prescribed and monitor health conditions
  • Prepare meals according to dietary requirements and preferences
  • Engage clients in social activities to promote mental well-being
  • Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary
  • Document care provided and report any changes in client condition to the appropriate personnel
  • Maintain a respectful and empathetic approach towards clients and their families

Skills

  • Experience in assisted living or nursing home environments is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of senior care practices, including hospice and dementia care
  • Strong caregiving skills with the ability to manage behaviours effectively
  • First aid certification is an asset
  • Valid driving licence for transportation of clients when required
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed for client assistance
  • Excellent communication skills to build rapport with clients and their families
  • Competency in meal preparation tailored to individual dietary needs
