About the role

Balfour Beatty are currently looking for a Project Manager (Building Surveyor) to join our Enabling Functions - Property team located in Derby, but will be travelling UK Wide. The UK Property team manages the whole lifecycle of the Balfour Beatty UK occupied estate from offices through to manufacturing facilities.

We're looking for a driven Project Manager with a Building Surveying background to coordinate the end to end delivery of fit-outs, refurbishments, and minor works across our operational estate. Plus supporting the lifecycle planning, including dilapidations and planned preventative maintenance (PPM).

Please Note: This role will require the successful applicant to hold a full driving license, due to the travelling involved.

What you'll be doing

As a Project Manager (Building Surveyor) you'll:

  • Manage the day to day delivery of capital projects within the UK Permanent Estate, circa 10-20 projects per year with combined values up to £5m
  • Draft and issue the brief
  • Set up and manage JCT D&B contract
  • Coordinate contractor and internal teams for delivery
  • Manage the budget, review and advise on variations for approval by the Head of
  • Ensure works completed in compliance with safety regulations
  • Ensure O&Ms and project information is handed over to the Facilities team
  • Undertake dilapidations assessments and negotiate settlements across the estate
  • Drive improvements to D&I and sustainability across our estate

Who we're looking for

You'll have/be:

  • Excellent organisation, prioritisation and time management skills and strong attention to detail for meticulous review of plans and costs
  • Experience of providing support, whilst working in a fast-paced environment to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Strong communication, relationship and negotiation skills and a curiosity led approach to delivery
  • An understanding of CDM
  • Advantageous – ability to use AutoCAD
  • APM qualification is advantageous or working towards APM fundamentals (support will be provided)
  • Degree or final year of degree with expected 2.1 in building surveying or project management
  • Full clean driving licence (UK travel is required).
  • Excellent IT skills, confident using Microsoft office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Copilot)
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Experience of working in commercial fit out
