Company Description

Collaboratory is an innovative research initiative supported by Nottingham Trent University, the University of Nottingham, and the Universities for Nottingham partnership. This pioneering programme is dedicated to fostering collaboration between researchers, community-focused organizations, and local citizens to drive meaningful change in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Backed by the £5.1m Research England Development Fund, Collaboratory will empower local communities by guiding them to set research agendas, conduct projects, and lead local change. Over its eight-year span, the programme plans to train 50 Ph.D. students, host 30 community events, and support 15 community projects, providing a model for nurturing civic leaders for the future.

Role Description

This part-time Research Internship is a hybrid role, based in Greater Nottingham, with the flexibility to work from home for certain tasks. As a Research Intern, you will support research initiatives by gathering and analyzing data, assisting in the development of community-driven projects, and coordinating with stakeholders. Responsibilities include conducting fieldwork, summarizing findings, preparing reports, and contributing to the planning and execution of community events and workshops. The role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in civic-focused research and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Strong research and data analysis skills, including the ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data
  • Familiarity with community engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and participatory research practices
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear reports and presentations
  • Organizational and project management skills to assist in planning and coordinating research initiatives and events
  • Proficiency in digital tools and software for research, documentation, and communication
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Experience with community development or social impact projects is a plus
  • Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a relevant degree program (e.g., social sciences, humanities, public policy, or related fields)
