Job Description:

The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital is looking for an experienced dynamic and organised Senior Physiotherapist to work within our neuro-spinal rehabilitation therapy team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a hugely reputable organisation and provide the highest standards of care.

About us:

The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital was established in Aylesbury in 1832. and has provided services and treatments to thousands of people from across the region.

The ownership of the hospital was transferred to our new management team in January 2023. By joining our existing portfolio, the hospital is now a family owned business and provides clinical care to both private, insured and NHS patients, with a strong ethos on caring for our staff.

The clinical outcomes of the hospital are of the highest standards. The latest CQC report rated our hospital standards as good across all parameters.

Extensive rejuvenation of the estate and updating of the clinical facilities has already started. Phase one of the projects includes refurbishment of the outpatient area and reception. Phase 2 includes construction and set up of a comprehensive radiology service including CT and MRI, construction of operating theatre and endoscopy suites.

The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital is, managed and run by clinicians. All colleagues are encouraged to feel empowered and to have an active voice on the management of their services.

Our organisation has strong IT, operational, clinical governance and accountancy support.

The role:

  • To demonstrate leadership within the Therapy department in providing outstanding rehabilitation to Patients' on an individual and group basis according to the agreed goals and objectives.
  • To work with the Director of Operations and Clinical Services and wider Executive team to support the development of services within RBH, to ensure that the hospital is a leader in rehabilitation services.
  • To work to ensure the patient receives the best possible rehabilitation, fostering excellent communication and ensuring consistency between the ward and therapy team.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary working across the Hospital and to work collaboratively with colleagues across all departments in the Hospital.
  • To support positive team working both internally and externally.
  • To provide management support and guidance to the Therapy Department.
  • To assist with the development and delivery of training for junior staff.

Managerial:

  • Working with the operations and clinical teams to promote a caring and supportive environment which enables the provision of high-quality care to the Patients, supporting and acting as a role model to junior staff.
  • To ensure the Hospital operates with full regulatory compliance in respect of the CQC domains; safe, caring, effective, responsive and well lead, as well as other statutory legislation that may be in force.
  • To drive service improvement to enhance patient outcomes and improve the Patient journey experience.
  • To support induction and specialist training.
  • To work with other Heads of Department to ensure training key performance indicators are met.
  • To work within the operating framework of the Hospital ensuring that all policies and procedures and standard operating procedures are followed at all times.
  • To support, mentor, manage and appraise the therapy team to enable them to effectively carry out their roles and responsibilities in line with the Hospital's stated aims and objectives and the integrated values framework.
  • To establish effective communication with Patients', their relatives and significant others to create an open and transparent environment where they can voice any concerns openly and positively.
  • To develop key relationships with external stakeholders to uphold the good reputation of the Hospital.
  • To work in close collaboration with the Admissions and Discharge Coordinator to manage the referral and admission/ discharge pathway to ensure occupancy of the Hospital is optimised.
  • To represent the therapy team at operational meetings to ensure the delivery of a coordinated service

Clinical:

  • To supervise, monitor and evaluate the service delivered to Patients', ensuring legal and regulatory standards are being adhered to as the Hospital strives to deliver an outstanding service across all of the CQC domains.
  • To monitor the patient's journey through the hospital pathways to ensure appropriate service level standards are implemented and met.
  • To work closely with the Head of Nursing to facilitate an integrated patient pathway including discussions around patient care, 24-hour rehab, progress and discharge planning including the production of progress reports and discharge reports.
  • Work within the framework of our Assessment and Rehabilitation Pathways and collect outcome measure data for individual Patients to demonstrate effective treatment and appropriate outcomes.
  • To assist in patient and relative education in preparation for discharge, ensuring effective therapeutic relationships are developed and outcomes are maximised.

The appointee will be required to undertake task asked of them by their line manager that may, at times, fall outside of their immediate job description.
