Whiteley, Hampshire, United Kingdom Saltus Full time £60,000 - £120,000 per year

Over its life, Saltus has grown at approximately 40% per annum, doubling its Assets Under Management (AuM) every two years. Today we are at £10bn AUM and have an M&A pipeline to continue that growth over the next three years. As part of our expansion, we are actively recruiting across the Saltus Finance team to ensure that we can continue to meet the needs of the growing business, both in terms of revenues and complexity.

This role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, developing FP&A professional to join the newly created FP&A team and shape budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes for the future growth of the business.

Reporting to the Director of FP&A, we are looking for someone with experience in a senior FP&A role where they have led budget and forecast processes, developed best in class reporting and KPI suites and worked alongside senior stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have used a planning tool such as Anaplan in a previous role.

Why Saltus?

Our mission is to improve everyone's relationship with their wealth: to make it a positive force for their future and at the same time to prevent it being a source of anxiety. We want everyone who works at Saltus to be proud to work here, and to find fulfilment and meaning in the work that they do.

We are a successful LLP, with a number of offices in the South of England including London, Whiteley, and Farnham, the North in Newcastle and in the West Country in Bath and Bristol, and South Wales. We are incredibly proud of our culture and work really hard to ensure that Saltus is a great place to work for our people, where they can have fun and grow in their career, with a passion for excellence and customer service.

Saltus is an independently owned financial planning and discretionary investment management house. We are dedicated to providing a high-quality service for private clients, trusts, and smaller institutions.

Saltus Partners was founded in 2004 and has grown organically and through a small number of carefully integrated acquisitions. Originally the business started out as an investment manager and has now developed the financial planning side of the offering, putting this at the forefront of the client relationship.

Today Saltus manages and advises on over £10 billion of client assets, acquired through a combination of organic business growth and corporate acquisitions.

Can you tell me more about the role?

You'll work alongside the Director of FP&A and other qualified finance professionals to:

  • Take ownership of the annual budget and five-year plan as well as in-year re-forecasts, utilising Anaplan to work with Finance Business Partners and produce a comprehensive, well-understood forecast including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cashflows and funding requirements
  • Lead the integration of Anaplan as our primary tool for reporting and planning including M&A deal modelling and statutory reporting
  • Develop a suite of best-in-class reporting and KPIs for senior internal stakeholders as well as shareholders, providing insights to drive value creation
  • Work closely with the Financial Control, Data and People teams to enhance the integrity and consistency of financial and non-financial data to facilitate divisional, propositional and departmental planning and reporting
  • Work with Finance Business Partners to track and report risks and opportunities (and their potential financial impact) across the business
  • Provide ad-hoc strategic analysis, including investment appraisal and deal modelling, to support Saltus' ambitious growth plans

What skills and experience do I need to have?

We think that the best candidate for this role will have:

  • Proven track record in a senior FP&A role within a dynamic, fast-growing business, ideally in financial services or wealth management
  • Demonstrable experience successfully leading a budget and forecast process in a complex business
  • Previous experience working closely with a planning tool, ideally Anaplan
  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified with three to five years post-qualification experience in a relevant role
  • Commercial acumen and experience monitoring and reporting on cashflows and funding requirements, ideally within a private equity environment
  • Energy and passion with the drive to create processes and tools from scratch
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • The ability to take ownership and responsibility for tasks and projects, working autonomously but knowing when to ask for help
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint) and strong Excel skills
  • A willingness and flexibility to travel to office sites as required

Where will I be working?

We're incredibly flexible about where, when, and how you work: we don't want anyone to be prevented from coming to work for Saltus as a result of the working pattern that they're looking for. We'd target two to three days each week in an office, the remainder of the week from home. Ideally, you'd be based out of the Southampton (Whiteley) office, co-located with the rest of the Saltus finance team. We'd ask you to work one day from the Southampton office on a day when the rest of the finance team are also in the office and another day in an office if your choice at one of our offices across the UK.

We have locations across the South and in the West Country, all of which are available to work from. We are passionate about championing flexible working for our people, so if there's a slightly different working pattern that you're looking for, then please come and have a chat to us about it.

What benefits do I get when working for Saltus?

The salary for this role is £70,000pa dependent upon experience. 28 days' holiday (plus bank holidays and your birthday), study assistance, life assurance, income protection and a pension, alongside access to our flexible benefits platform.

Just as importantly, you'll get to experience our culture, which we really do live and breathe, ensuring that Saltus is a fantastic place to work for every single one of our 500 people (post M&A). We work hard, but we have an awful lot of fun along the way. If you think you'd like to come and join us, then please do get in touch… we'd love to hear from you.
