Optimus Plus are looking for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer / Analyst to join their engineering team on a full-time, on-going contract basis. This role can be based in our Aberdeen or Glasgow office on a flexible hybrid working model.

Key Duties

  • Perform structural analysis of jackets, topsides, and floating assets
  • Support offshore operations, structural assurance, major projects, life extension, and decommissioning activities
  • Inplace analysis and code compliance assessments
  • Fatigue and dynamic analysis
  • Pushover, redundancy and boat impact analysis (advantageous but a mandatory requirement)
  • Support wider group activities of Structural Integrity Management, Weight Control, and Decommissioning.

About You

Qualifications:

  • Related Engineering Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Naval Architecture degree (B.Eng/M.Sc/P.hD)
  • Chartered Engineer, or actively working towards chartership (preferred)

Experience / competence:

  • High levels of proficiency in SESAM GeniE analysis packages
  • Experience in other industry standard analysis packages - StaadPro, USFOS, ABAQUS and ANSYS (preferred)
  • Experience in Structural Analysis techniques
  • Good understanding of structural linear and non-linear behaviour
  • Good understanding of civil and structural drawing skills
  • Knowledge of wave theory, wave kinematics, and Morison equation.
  • Significant, demonstrable experience in detailed design engineering and engineering checking
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant oil & gas industry codes and standards (e.g., ISO, API, DNV, etc.)
  • Detailed understanding of all engineering disciplines
  • Understands the application of Autodesk Design products
  • Competent in the use of MS Office applications
  • Excellent written and spoken English
