Junior Wedding Photographer (Contract-Based | UK-Wide)

About Us

Lens of Lights is one of the UK's leading wedding storytelling teams. We create personalised and cinematic wedding experiences that clients remember for a lifetime — and we're looking for a photographer to join us on a freelance contract basis. This position is ideal for a new or graduate photographer looking for a springboard into the industry.

What You'll Do

  • Capture full-day weddings across various locations in the UK.
  • Shoot with a focus on raw emotion, elegance, and genuine moments.
  • Work with various equipment to hone your skills.
  • Submit raw files or pre-selected shots post-event (editing is done in-house).

What You Must Have

  • Your own full-frame camera bodies (at least two).
  • A wide lens and a telephoto lens with fixed aperture of at least f2.8.
  • Public Liability Insurance (required for venue access).
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance.
  • Prior experience shooting weddings or live events.
  • A strong portfolio or Instagram link showcasing wedding work.
  • Excellent time management, people skills, and calmness under pressure.
  • Must pass a trial wedding shoot before official bookings.

Compensation

  • £15 – £30/hour, based on experience and performance.
  • Subsidised travel expense.
  • Payment after the event via direct transfer to account.

Job Progression Route

There are three pay scale within the company.

- Junior Photographer: You will be shadowing and assisting the Lead Photographer at events, for a pay of £15/hour. If you have performed well in this position at two consecutive events, you will be moved up as the Lead Photographer.

  • Lead Photographer: You will be leading the video aspect of the event, for a pay of £20/hour. You will be shadowed by senior member of staff to monitor your performance. If you have performed well in this position at two consecutive events, you will be moved up as the Senior Photographer.

  • Senior Photographer: You will be going to events and be the solo photographer that can be trusted to take care of the entire photography of the event on their own. Pay rate is £30/hour.

Availability

  • Events may be booked on any day — weekday or weekend.
  • You'll always get enough notice ahead of time.
  • This is a per-event contract role (no minimum hours).
