About the role:

Location: Boyndie, Aberdeenshire

Hours: Full-time

Reporting to the Manufacturing Division Manager, the Operations Manager - Manufacturing is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of the Fabrication, Assembly, Fitting, Machine Shop and Maintenance departments.

This role ensures the timely delivery of manufacturing projects while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, productivity and budget control. The Operations Manager - Manufacturing will manage a team of Chargehands and work closely with the Manufacturing Planner, Project Team and supply chain to coordinate activities, allocate resources, monitor budget and ensure that maintenance is undertaken as needed to meet production requirements.

The Operations Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring we continue to perform at this level. This person safeguards the values, standards, and reputation our business is known for. About the team:

As a part of our Manufacturing team, you'll become part of a hardworking, and skilled team who are always working to high standards and specifications. You will be supported by our Manufacturing Division Manager and have a team of skilled team mates working alongside you, whose goal, much like your own, will be to enable a quick and safe turn-around of equipment.

Responsibilities:

People

  • Adopting and promoting the Motive Offshore Group People Values and ensuring their use is embedded throughout day-to-day tasks and decision making.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the team of Chargehands and Team Leads, ensuring clear communication of expectations and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Develop strong working relations with key stake-holders – clients, colleagues etc.
  • To be a positive ambassador for Motive Offshore Group Ltd.

Planet

  • Ensure that manufacturing operations adhere to environmental regulations and company sustainability goals.
  • Promote environmentally responsible practices, such as waste reduction, energy efficiency, and proper disposal of hazardous materials, to minimise the environmental impact of production activities.
  • Lead by example in setting the highest possible standards in the promotion of People Values, HSEQ procedures and best practice, ensuring compliance to the Motive Offshore Group HSEQ Policy, procedures, standards and regulatory obligations.
  • Immediately report all accidents, incidents, near misses or environmental concerns
  • Adhere to and participate in company-wide sustainability policies, procedures and initiatives as they are developed to support our Net Zero objectives.

Product

  • Lead and oversee the daily operations of Fabrication, Assembly, Fitting, and Machine Shop departments, ensuring timely delivery of production goals while meeting quality and safety standards.
  • Work with the Manufacturing Planner to allocate resources effectively, including manpower, materials, and equipment, to meet production schedules and project deadlines.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Team to align manufacturing activities with project requirements and schedules. Ensure the timely execution of tasks to meet project milestones.
  • Ensure all equipment and machinery within the departments are regularly maintained and serviced as required to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to quality standards throughout the production process, implementing corrective actions as needed to address any issues.
  • Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Identify and mitigate potential risks in the work environment.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the departments to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, budget, maintenance schedules, and safety incidents. Report regularly to the Manufacturing Division Manager on performance metrics, issues, and progress.

Required skills / knowledge:

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing management role, with strong knowledge of fabrication, assembly, fitting, and machine shop operations.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
  • Familiarity with maintenance procedures, quality standards, and health and safety regulations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
