The creative mind behind every project. Put your skills to the test to build solutions that continue to shape the world we live in.
About Us
Ascent has recently been acquired by Acuity Analytics. This is both a significant milestone for us and a tremendous opportunity for you. Acuity Analytics is a business with a strong global reputation, an impressive client base and ambitious growth plans. We delivers deep insights and domain-led digital transformation to high-growth and heavily regulated organisations. To our customers, we bring a partnership that provides the talent, technology and capability to enhance performance and operational efficiency.
About the role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will make an impact on the future of data-driven innovation by joining our dynamic, forward-thinking team. As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll play a key role in crafting the data platforms, models, and pipelines that inform strategic decision-making for our customers and prepare data for a plethora of use cases from simple analytics to Generative AI and Data Science. This role reports into our Principal Data Engineer.
Your Role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will:
- Collaborate and Innovate: Partner with both internal and customer stakeholders and teams to understand business needs and produce high quality data products and assets.
- Create Success: Work alongside our solution architects to build trusted customer relationships, and lay the foundation for successful, best practice data engineering.
- Leverage Expertise: Be a subject matter expert in data engineering and surrounding practices and services. Build well-structured data pipelines, elegant data models and supporting transformations and tests.
- Share Experience: Support and mentor more junior team members, stay current with emerging trends and share insights through blogs and other media.
- Work in a Hybrid Environment: Participate in weekly in-person meetings at our London or Bristol offices, with occasional travel to customer sites. Enjoy a flexible blend of remote and on-site work.
- Contribute to Accelerators: Help evolve Ascent's Data accelerators, patterns and metadata frameworks, enabling customers to rapidly implement effective solutions from both a technology and business perspective.
- Data Engineering architecture. Building up blueprints and guides when implementing solutions. Where possible we need to implement top level designs that can be applied to multiple clients.
- Pre sales support. Be a part of the pre sales initiative to give a Data Engineering viewpoint of proposed solutions.
Your Skills
- Azure Data Engineering: Proven success as an Azure Data Engineer, with the ability to consult, advise, engineer and optimise our customers data products and assets.
- Azure Data Products: Expertise in one or more of the following platforms: Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Databricks, and experience in some of the supporting data technologies like Power BI, Microsoft Purview, Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Data Lake, etc.
- Azure: Understand core Azure infrastructure concepts and tools (Networks, Identify/Entra, ARM, BICEP, Terraform, etc). You don't need to be an expert in these but need to understand where they fit into the picture.
- DevOps: Experience with CI/CD promotion from Dev to Prod, through tools like Fabric, Azure DevOps and/or GitHub.
- Exceptional Communication: Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills to both internal and external audiences.
- Versatile Experience: Working with varying organisations, from SMC to Enterprise.
- Agile Methodologies: Commercial Agile experience is desirable.
- Certification Preferred: Microsoft certifications are advantageous.
- AI Aware: An understanding of Data Science and knowledge of Generative AI would be beneficial but not a firm requirement.
