Project Coordinator

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Project Management Officer (PMO) to join our growing cabling company. The PMO will play a central role in ensuring smooth project execution by supporting our Project Managers and Site Leads across a portfolio of cabling projects. This includes maintaining project governance, tracking progress, ensuring timely reporting, and facilitating communication across teams.

This is an ideal role for someone with a strong project management background in construction, electrical, telecoms, or infrastructure environments—who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on industry.

Responsibilities

  • Project Oversight: Monitor the progress of ongoing cabling projects from initiation through to delivery, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Support to PMs and Site Leads: Act as a key point of coordination, offering day-to-day support with scheduling, document control, issue resolution, and task tracking.
  • Governance & Standards: Develop and maintain consistent PMO practices, templates, and documentation standards to ensure projects are delivered with consistency and compliance.
  • Resource Coordination: Assist in the planning and deployment of labour, tools, and subcontractors in collaboration with Project Managers and Site Leads.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Track risks and issues raised by site teams and support resolution through escalation or mitigation planning.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Prepare and distribute project reports, dashboards, and performance summaries for internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Communication Hub: Facilitate communication between on-site teams, project management, and senior leadership to ensure clarity and timely decision-making.
  • Tool Administration: Manage and optimise the use of project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet) and ensure teams are trained in their use.
  • Budget Support: Track expenditure, assist with budget forecasts, and help PMs monitor financial performance across projects.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities to streamline project execution and reporting processes.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (PRINCE2, Agile).
  • Working knowledge of cabling/telecoms/construction industry.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project).
  • Skilled in reporting, budgeting, and resource planning.
  • Excellent time management and strong written communication skills.
  • High IT literacy (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Minimum 2 years in PMO or project coordination role.
  • Experience in construction, cabling, telecoms, utilities, or infrastructure.
  • Track record supporting multiple projects simultaneously.

Desirable:

  • Experience implementing or improving PMO systems/processes.
  • CSCS or industry‑related site certification.
  • Security Clearance / DBS check.
  • Project management certification (PRINCE2, Agile).

Personal Qualities

  • Calm under pressure, adaptable, and accountable.
  • Works with integrity and demonstrates a collaborative nature.
  • Logical thinker with strong problem‑solving ability.
  • Initiative‑driven, highly organised, and methodical.
  • Excellent communication skills, detail‑oriented, and self‑directed.
