Interim Estate Director – East London

Up to £150k per annum

We are urgently seeking an experienced Interim Estate Director to provide temporary stable leadership across a large, complex mixed-use estate in East London. This role will oversee both residential and commercial assets, ensuring continuity, operational control, and strong stakeholder confidence while a permanent appointment is made.

What You'll Be Doing as Our Interim Estate Director

  • Providing immediate operational leadership across 50 mixed-use buildings to ensure stability and continuity.
  • Quickly assessing estate performance and implementing short-term improvements where needed.
  • Leading and motivating a team of 100 staff across FM, maintenance and support functions.
  • Ensuring full compliance with health & safety, building regulations and statutory requirements at all times.
  • Managing budgets, contracts and service providers to maintain cost-effective, uninterrupted service delivery.
  • Acting as the key point of escalation for residents, commercial tenants and partner organisations.
  • Overseeing ongoing refurbishments, maintenance programmes and capital works to keep them on track.
  • Reporting to senior leadership with clear, concise updates on risks, priorities, and operational readiness.

What Experience Is Required for the Interim Estate Director Role

  • Available for immediate start
  • Extensive experience managing large-scale estates, ideally including mixed-use or urban portfolios.
  • Strong leadership with the ability to quickly stabilise teams and build trust.
  • Thorough knowledge of compliance, H&S and facilities operations.
  • Sound financial skills, including budget control and contract management.
  • Experience managing residential, commercial or complex multi-building environments.
  • Relevant qualifications in property or facilities management are desirable but not essential.
