We are seeking an experienced Group Head of Governance to provide strategic leadership across Quality, Regulatory, Health & Safety, Environmental Management and ESG, supporting the continued growth and maturity of the Group.

As Group Head of Governance, you will have overall responsibility for AMHG's integrated governance framework, ensuring compliance with medical device regulations, international quality standards and health & safety legislation. You will act as Person Responsible for Regulatory Compliance (PRRC) for AMHG's legal manufacturers and be a trusted advisor to the Senior Leadership Team on governance, risk and assurance matters.

This is a senior leadership role with real influence, shaping how governance supports safe patient care, regulatory confidence and sustainable business growth across a geographically dispersed organisation.

Please note this is a UK-based remote role, with national travel required.

Key Responsibilities

Governance & Strategy

  • Develop and lead the Group's integrated governance framework covering Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Health & Safety, Environmental Management and ESG.
  • Provide expert advice to senior leaders on governance, compliance, risk and assurance.
  • Chair the Group Governance Committee and oversee associated sub-committees.
  • Maintain and oversee the Group Governance & Compliance Risk Register.

Quality Assurance

  • Lead and maintain the Group Quality Management System in line with ISO 13485 and ISO 9001.
  • Act as Management Representative, ensuring effective QMS performance reporting, awareness and continuous improvement.
  • Chair Management Review meetings and drive consistent quality standards across all sites.
  • Regulatory Affairs
  • Fulfil statutory duties as PRRC, ensuring compliance with EU MDR (2017/745), UK MDR and applicable international requirements.

Health & Safety

  • Lead the Group Health & Safety strategy and management system across the UK, ROI and the Netherlands.
  • Ensure effective incident reporting, investigation and learning.
  • Oversee audits, statutory compliance and H&S training programmes.

Environmental Management & ESG

  • Lead environmental management and regulatory compliance.
  • Own ESG reporting frameworks, performance metrics and governance indicators.
  • Support alignment with NHS Net Zero ambitions and responsible procurement standards.

Audit, Risk & Assurance

  • Lead internal and external audit programmes across governance disciplines.
  • Manage relationships with regulators, Notified Bodies and certification bodies.
  • Ensure effective CAPA management, trend analysis and organisational learning.
  • Produce regular governance performance reports for senior stakeholders.

Leadership & Business Support

  • Lead, mentor and develop multi-disciplinary governance teams.
  • Foster a culture of transparency, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Provide governance input into bids, tenders and customer assurance activities.
  • Act as a change agent, driving standardisation and governance maturity across the Group.
  • Oversee technical documentation, declarations of conformity, post-market surveillance, vigilance and FSCA/FSN activities.
  • Support regulatory input into new product development and change control.
  • Manage medical device registrations and regulatory authority interactions (e.g. MHRA).

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Senior-level experience in governance, quality, regulatory or H&S leadership within healthcare, medical devices or another regulated environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 13485, ISO 9001, MDR, UK MDR and H&S legislation.
  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in complex, multi-site organisations.
  • Confident senior stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • Calm, decisive and analytical, with a data-driven approach.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
  • High levels of professionalism, integrity and attention to detail.
  • IT-literate with experience of QMS systems and Microsoft 365.
  • Eligible for DBS clearance.

Desirable

  • Professional qualifications such as CQI, IRCA, NEBOSH or PRINCE2.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

  • Degree-level education in Quality, Regulatory, Governance, Health & Safety, Engineering or a related healthcare discipline (or equivalent experience).
