Workshop Assistant

We are Hampshire based creative furniture company designing and manufacturing commercial furniture within the UK. We are currently a team of 60 with ambitious growth plans.

Rawside design and manufacture high quality furniture for the contract market. Most of our customers are within the UK but we have recently completed a number of successful projects in Europe and expect to expand these markets. Our environmental credentials are a key part of our business and having recently been certified as a BCorp business we are keen to improve our positive impact on the environment, our community and our team.

Job Summary

We are looking for an organised and motivated person to join our joinery and fabrication team. The ideal candidate would be a good all round tradesperson with skills in using hand tools and finishing. You must be a team player and be prepared to be flexible within the workplace. You will be keen, motivated, proactive, and willing to accept a challenging environment. In an ever-changing role you must always have a can-do approach to your work.

Potential for training and career progression for the right applicant and after a successful period showing commitment and willing within this the initial role.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Trimming, sanding and de-nibbing panels and components and general assistance within the workshop
  • Finishing by hand and hand tools, using orbital sanders and sanding machines
  • To understand and be able to work to tolerances required for trimming and sanding.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
  • Adhering to health and safety at all times.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Good level of spoken English
  • Some experience within a joinery or general workshop
  • Physically able to carry out duties in a safe manner.
  • Hard working, reliable and honest
  • Own means of transport (we are in a rural area with little public transport)

Job Type: Full-time/Permanent

Hours: 40 hours per week plus overtime available. Note: we sometimes operate early morning or afternoon to evening shifts so the candidate needs to be prepared to work within the shifts when required.

Location: Ropley, Alresford, Hampshire, SO24

Salary: £ £16.00 per hour (depending on experience plus annual bonus subject to achieving personal and Company targets

Holiday: 20 days (25 days after first year) + Public holidays

Other benefits: Company Pension scheme and Private Healthcare after qualifying period
