The Budget and Reporting Manager role is based in the exciting and evolving Information Technology Services (ITS) directorate. This is a fast paced and dynamic part of the organisation with great training and development opportunities to enhance your career.
This role provides an opportunity to join the IT Finance team and is central to the relationship between an individual business area and the finance function. You will proactively engage with the business directly, use your strong technical and influencing skills and develop a sound understanding of the ITS business area. You will provide advice, challenge, and scrutiny to senior colleagues to ensure budgets are well constructed, managed and monitored.

Job descriptionResponsibilities
Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
- Manage the collation of accurate and timely information on financial and workforce projections plus organisational structures held on SAP for owned ITS capability areas.
- Lead and monitor the regular reviews which ensure the accuracy of forecasts against rigid financial and workforce targets. Support change and provide expertise, advice and guidance on a wide range of topics including budgets, workforce and organisation structures. Prepare responses, reports, papers appropriate to the audience.
- Lead and monitor the delivery of an efficient financial admin support service to all managers and staff within the IT Finance Team and wider ITS capabilities.
- Liaise with and work collaboratively with immediate colleagues, other co-ordination units and internal stakeholders to ensure the accuracy of information, compliance to agreed procedures and to promote good communications.
The role also provides the opportunity to gain an accountancy qualification from The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).

Person specificationYou will have experience in Finance and will have excellent IT skills in particular with Microsoft Excel. With an excellent eye for detail, you will be able to input data accurately and efficiently.
We would love someone to join us who can build rapport quickly with key stakeholders both internally and externally and enjoys working collaboratively with people at all levels.
You will have strong communication skills and can communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. You can deliver information in a clear, confident and professional manner, tailoring this to suit your audience.
You will thrive in a busy environment, working to tight deadlines with the ability to organise and prioritise your work.
You will need to be highly adaptable and flexible, adjusting to the requirements of the role as and when business needs arise.

Working hours, office attendance and travel requirements
Applications will be accepted from full time/part time/job sharers. Full time roles at DVLA consist of 37 hours per week. Part time and/or flexible working may also be available subject to the needs of the business. This role is suitable for hybrid working, and therefore a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements. Hybrid working is a non-contractual arrangement where employees have the flexibility to work remotely combined with a minimum of 60% of their working time a month at either their principal workplace (the location cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, visiting stakeholders and colleagues, or carrying out detached duty in another DVLA workplace. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
