Stevenage, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom ImmuONE Full time £40,000 - £60,000 per year

At ImmuONE, we're redefining how respiratory safety is assessed. Our pioneering in vitro models and services empower global pharmaceutical, chemical, and consumer product companies to predict in vivo outcomes with precision, especially in lung biology.

As our Business Finance Manager, you'll be at the heart of a fast-growing biotech innovator, driving financial excellence and operational efficiency. This hands-on role is perfect for a dynamic professional who thrives on change, champions finance transformation, and enjoys rolling out smarter systems and processes. You'll partner closely with our cofounders and wider team to manage financial operations, support strategic planning, and oversee post-sales activities while also contributing to broader business functions like IT.

This is more than a finance role; it's a chance to shape the future of a scaling company with a bold scientific mission. If you're looking to take ownership of financial operations in a growing company, collaborate closely with leadership, and help shape the systems that support our mission, this is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations

  • Manage all daily finance tasks including invoicing, billing, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in Xero (or equivalent system).
  • Support financial planning and budgeting activities under CFO guidance.
  • Prepare monthly management reports and assist with cash flow monitoring.
  • Coordinate with external accountants to ensure timely completion of annual accounts and compliance (VAT, tax, etc.).
  • Pay suppliers and manage company expenses.

Post-Sales and Client Support

  • Oversee invoicing to clients, track payments, and maintain communication between finance, sales, and clients.
  • Ensure timely billing and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Maintain accurate client records and payment terms in CRM systems.
  • Support pricing and margin reviews in collaboration with sales and finance teams.

Operational Support

  • Support and deliver business projects across finance, IT systems and process improvements.
  • Help implement new tools or systems (managing rollout and day-to-day use).
  • Manage procurement, supplier payments and office operational finances.
  • Contribute to internal compliance, documentation and workflow improvements.

Team & Cross-Departmental Collaboration

  • Work with the wider leadership team to improve financial visibility across departments.
  • Liaise with the sales, science, and business operations teams to ensure financial processes align with business needs.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong finance management operations background — able to complete month-end activities independently.
  • Proven experience in invoicing, reconciliations, and managing cash flow.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Xero) and expert in Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Organised and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Clear communicator who enjoys working across teams and directly with clients.
  • Experience supporting system and process rollouts

Preferred Background

  • Minimum 5+ years in a financial operations role.
  • Ideally level 4 to qualified accountant e.g. CIMA, ACA, ACCA.
  • Experience in a growth or SME environment is highly desirable.

Personal Attributes

  • Hands-on, proactive, and reliable — a "doer" who gets things done.
  • Enjoys variety and problem-solving across both finance and operations.
  • Comfortable in a small, dynamic team and keen to contribute to business improvement.

At ImmuONE we pride ourselves on our values including:

  • Problem solving for challenges that makes a difference
  • Scientific excellence and rigour
  • Well-being and personal growth
  • Valuing diversity
  • Transparency and open, honest communication
