Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on
Warehouse Manager
to lead our warehouse operations. You will oversee the safe, efficient receipt, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch of raw materials and finished food ingredients, ensuring full compliance with food safety standards (including BRCGS, HACCP, and allergen management). This is a key leadership role in a fast-paced food ingredients environment, where traceability, stock accuracy, and on-time delivery are critical.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day warehouse operations, including goods receiving, put-away, inventory control, order picking, packing, and outbound dispatch.
• Lead, train, motivate, and performance-manage a team of warehouse operatives (including recruitment, appraisals, and shift scheduling as required).
• Ensure strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and quality standards – including allergen segregation, pest control, temperature monitoring (where applicable), and traceability requirements.
• Implement and maintain FIFO/FEFO stock rotation systems to minimize waste and ensure product freshness.
• Oversee accurate stock management using our Warehouse Management System (WMS/ERP), conduct regular cycle counts, and coordinate annual stocktakes.
• Optimize warehouse layout, space utilization, and processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Manage forklift trucks and other materials-handling equipment, ensuring regular maintenance, operator training, and safety compliance.
• Coordinate with Production, Procurement, Quality Assurance, and Sales teams to meet customer orders on time and in full.
• Enforce health & safety policies (including COSHH, manual handling, and risk assessments) and promote a strong safety culture.
• Monitor KPIs such as picking accuracy, on-time dispatch, inventory accuracy, and labor productivity; report on performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Handle supplier deliveries, transport scheduling, and third-party logistics providers.
• Support audits (BRCGS, customer, and regulatory) and implement corrective actions as needed.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in warehouse management, ideally within food manufacturing, ingredients, or FMCG wholesale.
• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (HACCP, BRCGS, allergen management, SALSA, or equivalent).
• Experience leading and developing warehouse teams in a union-free or similar environment.
• Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office (especially Excel); familiarity with ERP systems is an advantage.
• Valid Forklift Truck license (Reach & Counterbalance) – essential.
• IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent health & safety qualification preferred.
