We are seeking an ambitious, experienced, and highly skilled Deputy Manager to join our dedicated team in our dementia friendly residential care home. This role is perfect for a talented Senior Carer or Deputy who has the knowledge, drive, and ambition to progress to Registered Manager level in the future.

You will be instrumental in supporting the Manager to lead our team, maintain our high standards, and champion a truly person-centred culture.

What We Need from You

Leadership and Ambition

  • Ready for Promotion: You must possess significant experience in the elderly care sector and have the clear ambition and knowledge necessary to quickly step into the Registered Manager role when the opportunity arises, (possible joint registration opportunity in the near future).
  • Champion of Change and maintaining excellent care: We need a versatile leader who actively embraces and promotes positive change and best practice when needed, inspiring the team to adopt new, effective care methods, whilst maintaining staff morale and a stable workforce.
  • Staff Development: Ability to mentor, coach, and motivate a large care team, managing shift co-ordination, supervisions, and quality assurance processes.

Operational Flexibility & Technology

  • Flexibility: You must be flexible in your working pattern to accommodate the operational needs of the home, including covering shifts and participating in a required on-call rota.
  • Digital Expertise: Strong computer literacy is essential. Our home uses modern digital platforms for all records, including care planning and electronic medication administration records (eMAR). Experience using digital systems for compliance and reporting is a must.

Knowledge

  • Dementia Focus: You must demonstrate a deep understanding of providing person-centred dementia care, including supporting residents with complex needs and working collaboratively with external clinical teams.
  • Compliance: Excellent knowledge of CQC regulatory frameworks and the ability to conduct internal audits and drive continuous quality improvement.

Main responsibilities

  • Provide assistance with the management of the day-to-day running of the home including taking responsibility in the absence of the registered manager
  • Assistance with management of resident care
  • Assistance with the management of the premises
  • Assistance with staff management
  • Administration

Person specification

Essential:

  • Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Extensive experience in a Health and Social Care setting working with older people
  • Experience in writing and maintaining care plans
  • Good care planning skills
  • Strong IT skills
  • Proven ability to provide quality care
  • Ability to work independently and follow verbal or written instructions
  • Adaptable to change
  • Record keeping
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Effective and professional communication skills
  • Ability to work without immediate supervision and under pressure in a diverse and changing environment
  • Ability to demonstrate an empathy and understanding of the needs of older people
  • Ability to carry out all aspects of the role to a high standard, at all times
  • Ability to effectively supervise individuals and a team

Desirable

  • Level 5 in Health and Social Care
