Senior Residential Childcare Worker
Ready to Spark Change? Join Us as a Senior Residential Childcare Worker at Salford City Council
What Will You Do?
As a Senior Residential Childcare Worker, you'll help us set the tone in an established Children's Home which was rated as Outstanding in Leadership and Management and Good in all other areas in their most recent OFSTED inspection. You will help the care team provide both vision and stability and use your experience and therapeutic knowledge to craft a nurturing environment that feels like a true home for our young people.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Guidance: Mentor and support a team of residential childcare workers, instilling best practices and a therapeutic approach to daily interactions.
Therapeutic Care: Implement strategies that promote emotional and psychological well-being, tailoring care to the unique needs of each child.
Community Building: Help create a safe, inviting home atmosphere where every child can thrive.
Collaboration: Work alongside other professionals to ensure comprehensive, holistic care that supports all aspects of a child's development.
Who We're Looking For:
We are looking for someone with a solid background in residential childcare, with hands-on experience in supporting managing the complexities of a children's home. You will bring a deep-seated passion for using therapeutic approaches in the care of young people. Holding a Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential for the SRCCW post.
Salford City Council is committed to diversity and inclusion and welcomes applications from all parts of the community.
If you are interested in improving young people's life chances and working for Salford, and can demonstrate our values of Pride, Passion, People and Personal Responsibility, it really is an exciting time to join us. For an informal discussion please contact Residential Manager Elizabeth Dahou on
Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £49.50. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months' salary payments at a rate of £12.38 per month. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £49.50.
If you have lived or worked abroad for 3 months or more in the last 5 years or 12 months or more (whether continuously or in total) in the last 10 years whilst aged 18 or over, please refer to the link below for details for how to obtain your Certificates of Good Character.
