- Work closely with a broad range of clients in the financial services sector-including banks, asset managers, brokers, alternative investors, and institutional investors-on both compliance and advisory engagements involving cutting-edge developments in product and operational taxes.
What you'll do:
As Senior Manager for Product and Operational Taxes in Asset Management, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of this expanding practice. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you managing complex portfolios spanning compliance and advisory work for prestigious clients across the financial services landscape. You will have ample opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines-leveraging their insights while sharing your own expertise-to deliver tailored solutions that address each client's unique needs. By fostering strong relationships both internally and externally, you will help position the team as trusted advisors on all aspects of product and operational taxes. Your involvement in developing new client propositions means you will be at the forefront of industry trends, combining technical acumen with practical experience to create value-added offerings. Success in this role requires not only deep subject matter knowledge but also enthusiasm for nurturing talent within your team, embracing flexible ways of working, and contributing positively to an inclusive workplace culture.
- Manage, deliver, and grow a portfolio of UK and pan-European investor tax reporting compliance and advisory engagements for a wide variety of financial services clients.
- Lead, nurture, and develop a talented team of professionals by providing coaching, guidance, and support to ensure high-quality outcomes for clients.
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge across product and operational taxes as well as related areas to provide accurate advice and solutions.
- Support the management of client relationships by acting as a key point of contact for all matters relating to product and operational taxes.
- Collaborate with colleagues across different teams within the organisation-both in the UK and globally-to identify opportunities for additional services and ensure seamless delivery.
- Develop innovative client propositions by staying abreast of emerging technologies and evolving tax regulations, ensuring clients receive relevant and forward-thinking advice.
- Participate actively in business development activities including proposal writing, pitching new ideas to clients, and supporting the growth of the practice.
- Work closely with technology teams to design new solutions for clients, take these offerings to market, and build robust delivery models that guarantee quality service.
- Advocate for the operational taxes team internally and externally by promoting best practices and helping drive business growth through excellent service delivery.
What you bring:
To excel as Senior Manager for Product and Operational Taxes in Asset Management, your background should reflect substantial experience within either professional services or industry settings where you have developed deep technical proficiency relating to taxation or broader financial services. Your interpersonal strengths will enable you to connect meaningfully with both clients and colleagues alike-fostering collaboration across teams while ensuring everyone feels supported. A keen interest in leveraging technology alongside regulatory changes will allow you to offer innovative solutions that keep pace with market demands. Your approachability makes you an effective mentor who enjoys nurturing others' talents; meanwhile your resilience helps maintain high standards even during periods of change or challenge. Above all else, your commitment to ongoing learning ensures that both you-and those around you-continue growing professionally within this vibrant environment.
- Demonstrable technical expertise in tax or financial services evidenced by relevant qualifications (such as tax, audit, finance, law or regulation) or significant practical experience gained within industry roles.
- Practical experience handling product and operational taxes within a financial services context-whether from an industry or professional services background-with an ability to apply this knowledge effectively.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial markets including participants such as banks, brokers, institutional investors, custodians, asset managers, private equity firms, and related products.
- Outstanding project management skills complemented by proven abilities in delegation, coaching junior staff members, and delivering results directly to clients.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies relevant to tax compliance or advisory work coupled with enthusiasm for integrating these tools into client solutions.
- Ability to monitor evolving tax regulations proactively so you can capitalise on new developments when creating client propositions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to build rapport with clients quickly while maintaining long-term relationships based on trust.
