Senior Mechanical (HVAC) Design Engineer – £45 per hour

  • Location: Farringdon, London
  • Contract: 6 months
  • Hours: Up to 40 hours per week
  • Immediate start

I'm looking for a Senior Mechanical (HVAC) Design Engineer to join a medium-sized, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy based near Farringdon.

They have a strong pipeline of hotel and high-rise residential projects and need an experienced Senior Mechanical (HVAC) Design Engineer to lead these projects.

Reporting directly to the M&E Director, you'll take full ownership of your projects, from concept through delivery, whilst liaising directly with clients, contractors, and developers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design of mechanical building services, including HVAC and hot/cold-water systems.
  • Coordinate MEP services across design teams and disciplines.
  • Integrate renewable and low-carbon energy systems into building designs.
  • Prepare specifications, drawings, and equipment schedules for HVAC systems.
  • Review RFIs, technical submittals, and contractor design information.
  • Mentor and support junior and intermediate mechanical engineers.
  • Manage project profitability, ensuring designs meet programme and budget targets.
  • Ensure your designs comply with CIBSE guidelines, British Standards, and client-specific requirements such as CP1.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in building services design.
  • Currently working for a consultancy or design & build contractor.
  • Proven experience in residential, hotel, or mixed-use projects.
  • Confident in leading projects and managing small design teams.
  • Takes full ownership and accountability for technical delivery and client satisfaction.

Please note, they are also willing to employ you on a permanent basis; and their budget is £65K - £75K for a solid Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer.
